There are many ways to make humus. If you do not have tahini at home, you can prepare it from roasted and ground sesame seeds, too. This date and chick pea spread recipe gives you a wonderful mix of sweet and salty flavors.
Roast the sesame seeds in a pan until golden brown. When they are done, let them cool and then grind them finely.
Cut the dates into smaller pieces and soak them in water.
Drain and place the canned chickpeas in a bowl, and add the salt, the cayenne pepper, the garlic, the soaked dates and the water. Blend them all together.
To serve, sprinkle your spread with some sesame seed oil and the chopped parsley, and decorate it with dates.
